American Solar Direct Inc was a full-service residential solar provider headquartered in Anaheim, California. Founded in 2009, the company specialized in designing custom solar solutions for homeowners, handling every aspect from initial site assessment through permitting, installation, activation, and ongoing maintenance. American Solar Direct distinguished itself with a customer-centric approach—offering tools like an online portal for customers to monitor their system’s performance—and prided itself on high-quality service delivery.
The company grew rapidly during the early 2010s and received recognition as one of California’s leading residential PV installers. It raised significant project funding—including $50 million from WGL Holdings—to support its lease program. At its peak, ASD was featured among top U.S. solar contractors and maintained an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
However, amid tightening margins across the industry and broader market challenges affecting many residential installers nationwide, American Solar Direct filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in June 2017. Its assets were liquidated; lease accounts were reportedly transferred to WGL Energy for servicing existing customers’ systems.
As of April 2025, the company is out of business, its website is offline, and no new installations or services are being offered under this brand.
