K Road Power Holdings LLC is an independent power producer specializing in the development, ownership, and operation of utility-scale renewable energy projects with a primary focus on photovoltaic solar facilities. Founded as part of a broader platform to recapitalize US power companies after the 2001 market crash, K Road shifted its focus exclusively to renewables in 2008. Since then, it has developed nearly 2 gigawatts (GW) of solar installations across the United States.
Among its most notable achievements are the 350 MW Moapa Solar Project—one of the first large-scale PV plants built on tribal land—and several other major installations such as McHenry Solar (25 MW) and Modesto Solar (32 MW). The company partners with utilities like LADWP under long-term power purchase agreements to deliver clean electricity at competitive rates while supporting local job creation.
K Road also operates through its distributed generation arm (“K Road DG”), investing capital into smart grid technologies and storage solutions globally.
