New Columbia Solar

Founded in 2016 in Washington D.C., New Columbia Solar is one of the region's largest full-service commercial solar developers. The company specializes in financing, designing, installing, owning/operating—and maintaining—solar energy systems across rooftops and underutilized urban spaces such as parking garages. Unlike many competitors that focus solely on installation or sales contracts, NCS acts as a long-term partner by assuming all upfront risk through direct investment while managing ongoing operations over 15–20 year agreements.
NCS has developed more than 300 solar projects representing over $150 million invested locally with an industry-leading interconnection rate above 99%. Their innovative business model enables property owners—including businesses large and small—to generate new income streams from unused space via lease payments or discounted electricity rates without any initial outlay.
The company is also recognized for its leadership role in community-focused initiatives such as DC's “Solar For All” program—which aims to halve electric bills for at least 100,000 low-income households by 2032—and landmark engineering achievements like developing Washington D.C.’s largest solar canopy at Children’s National Research & Innovation Campus.
Led by CEO Mike Healy—a prominent advocate for renewable policy—the team brings deep expertise from both development/engineering backgrounds and financial structuring. Their mission centers around making clean energy accessible throughout the District while expanding into Maryland markets.
