NV Energy is Nevada’s principal electric utility company serving approximately 90% of the state’s population—including about 1.4 million customers across northern and southern Nevada—and providing natural gas service in the Reno-Sparks area. Headquartered at 6226 West Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas, NV Energy has operated for over a century with roots dating back to 1906. The company became part of Berkshire Hathaway Energy in 2013 but continues to operate under its own name.
NV Energy manages an extensive electricity generation portfolio primarily fueled by natural gas but with an increasing share from renewables. Its renewable energy mix includes more than fifty-seven large-scale projects spanning solar photovoltaic plants (with integrated battery storage), geothermal fields—Nevada being one of America’s top geothermal states—as well as wind and hydropower assets. A major infrastructure achievement was connecting northern and southern Nevada grids via the One Nevada Transmission Line (“ONLine”), enabling greater reliability statewide while supporting further development of remote renewable resources.
The company also invests heavily in customer-facing technology such as digital account management tools through web portals and mobile apps for billing support and outage information. As part of its commitment to sustainability goals set by state policy—including aggressive Renewable Portfolio Standards—NV Energy plays a central role in advancing clean energy adoption throughout Nevada.
