Pacific Gas and Electric Company

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), incorporated in 1905, is one of the largest combination natural gas and electric utilities in the United States. Headquartered at Kaiser Center in Oakland, California, PG&E serves approximately 15 million people across a 70,000-square-mile area covering northern and central California. As a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation, PG&E operates under regulation by the California Public Utilities Commission. The company’s core business involves delivering electricity to about 5.2 million households and providing natural gas service. With over 28,000 employees, PG&E manages extensive infrastructure for electric power lines/grids and natural gas pipelines. In support of California's renewable energy goals, PG&E contracts for large-scale renewable projects and owns utility-owned generation assets. It enables distributed generation via net metering programs allowing customers to connect their own renewable systems to its grid.
