Phoenix Solar Inc.

Phoenix Solar was an international photovoltaic system integrator headquartered in Sulzemoos near Munich, Germany. The group specialized in the development, planning, construction, and operation of large-scale photovoltaic power plants worldwide as well as being a specialist wholesaler for turnkey solar solutions and components. As an EPC contractor with subsidiaries on three continents—including the United States via Phoenix Solar Inc., established in California in 2010—the company emphasized on-budget and on-time project delivery optimized for superior returns.
The U.S. arm focused on designing and building utility-scale PV projects across North America using a technology-neutral approach to deliver optimal solutions for developers, utilities, IPPs (Independent Power Producers), public entities, and private electricity buyers. Notable achievements include constructing multi-megawatt facilities such as a 38.6 MW plant in Georgia for Silicon Ranch Corporation and several projects across Europe and Asia.
At its peak around 2010–2013:
- Over 1.2 GWp worth of modules sold since founding.
- Revenue exceeded €635 million.
However, Phoenix Solar AG entered insolvency proceedings in February 2018 following industry challenges.
