Power Home Solar, LLC—later known as Pink Energy—was a North Carolina-based residential rooftop solar contractor founded in 2014 by Jayson Waller. The company rapidly expanded across 15 states in the Midwest and Southeast United States through aggressive marketing campaigns and partnerships with local sports teams. Powerhome claimed to have installed over 400,000 panels during its operation and received several industry awards for growth and customer service; however, these accolades were later scrutinized due to verification issues.
In April 2022, Powerhome rebranded as Pink Energy to reflect an expanded focus on renewable energy solutions beyond just solar panels. Despite initial success—including doubling installations annually—the company faced mounting legal challenges related to misleading sales practices and product performance complaints from customers across multiple states. A significant partnership with Generac led to further complications when defective components resulted in widespread system failures and increased service calls.
By September 2022, facing financial difficulties exacerbated by lawsuits, negative publicity regarding sales tactics, mass layoffs, equipment failures (notably Generac’s Snap RS), declining sales volume, and unresolved customer complaints about underperforming systems versus promised savings—the company abruptly ceased operations nationwide. All employees were terminated effective immediately according to internal communications obtained by media outlets; bankruptcy proceedings are ongoing as of late 2024.
