Shaw Solar is a full-service solar contracting company based in Durango, Colorado. Founded in 2006 by Master Electrician John Shaw—who installed La Plata County’s first grid-tied PV system—the company specializes in both residential and commercial solar electric design and installation as well as advanced energy storage solutions. As Durango’s first Certified B Corporation® since 2018, Shaw Solar operates with a mission to empower clients and employees to do good while delivering creative green energy solutions. Their team includes highly trained installers and master electricians who provide end-to-end service: from initial consultation through design, permitting, installation, maintenance—and even grant writing for commercial projects.
Shaw Solar has installed approximately half of all systems on the local LPEA grid and has been trusted by utilities themselves for major school projects. They are known locally for high-quality workmanship backed by a five-year warranty beyond manufacturer coverage. The company serves communities across Southwest Colorado—including Durango, Mancos, Cortez, Dolores, Silverton, Bayfield & Pagosa Springs—and supports numerous local nonprofits as part of its community investment ethos.
