JMC Steel Group—now known as Zekelman Industries Inc.—is North America’s largest independent manufacturer of pipe and tube products. The company operates through well-known divisions such as Atlas Tube, Wheatland Tube, Sharon Tube, Picoma, and Energex Tube. With over 130 years of industry leadership (dating back to John Maneely Co., founded 1877), they produce approximately two million tons of pipe and tube annually across 12 manufacturing plants.
For the renewable energy sector—especially solar—Zekelman Industries provides critical structural solutions: galvanized round/square/rectangular tubing forms the backbone of mounting/racking systems supporting photovoltaic panels at utility scale or commercial sites. Their expertise ensures robust supply chains for large-scale projects across North America.
The company has invested heavily in modernizing its facilities (e.g., Wheatland Division’s “Phoenix” project) to improve product quality/delivery times. While not an EPC contractor or installer themselves, their manufactured steel solutions are integral to many major U.S. solar installations. In June 2016 JMC Steel Group officially rebranded as Zekelman Industries Inc.; all business units retained their established brand names but now operate under this parent identity.
