United StatesVirginia-based solar company Convert Solar recently won the Solarize Virginia RFP initiative. Now the company has become an official 2023 installer for Solarize Virginia—a community-based outreach initiative that aimed at reducing the cost and complexity of going solar for residents across the state—by providing a "one-stop-shop" for education and installation.
Solarize Virginia is managed by the nonprofit Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) and adopts a competitive bidding process to evaluate and select installers. The selected installers will offer discounted prices for solar installations in the state. Since 2014, over 1,015 residential solar systems with a total capacity of over 9.3 MW have been installed through the initiative.
Convert Solar is dedicated to serving the Virginia market and holds the #23 spot among residential solar installation companies in the U.S.

Apart from Convert Solar, other official installers include Solar Energy World, Prospect Solar and Tiger Solar.
In addition to Solarize Virginia, there are other solar initiatives and programs established by both public and private sectors to facilitate the development of solar in the state.
For example, the Virginia Solar Initiative (VSI) was set to provide unbiased and research-based resources, tools and guidance to meet the needs of localities. The largest electric utility in the state, Dominion Energy, has rolled out a series of programs to help both residential and non-residential clients to deploy solar with ease. Including the Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC), homeowners in Virginia can also benefit from Virginia's Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC) program as well as tax exemption for the property.
